Jehovah Nissi

Moses built an altar and named it The LORD is My Banner Exodus 17:15

God is Jehovah Nissi “The Lord is My banner”.  Isn’t it great to know that God is for us then no one can be against us?  So whatever situation we face in life God is our banner.  Think how different wars would be, if soldiers had God as their banner.  With God all things are possible.  Victory is guaranteed when God is on our side and we are on His side.  The enemy is a defeated foe.

“Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Exodus 31:13

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

God is Jehovah Maccaddeshem “The Lord thy Sanctifier.”  We are not saved by works and we cannot work to maintain our salvation.  We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus.  It is God who then sanctifies us to make us holy.  God desires us to be holy.  We are not to continue to live in sin but to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.  God takes us from faith to faith and glory to glory.  He conforms us into the image of Christ Jesus.

We are given the Holy Spirit who enables us to live the life God has called us to.  The Holy Spirit works within us and sanctifies us.

“The city shall be 18,000 cubits round about; and the name of the city from that day shall be, ‘The LORD is there.'” Ezekiel 48:35

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. Psalm 139: 7-8

God is Jehovah Shammah “The Lord is there.”  Do you know that God is everywhere?  There is no place we can hide from God.  We should make it a point to recognize the presence of God wherever we go.  It is a great comfort to know that whatever challenges life brings us God is there.  He is always with us.  We are guaranteed that He will never leave nor forsake us.

Jehovah Rohi

1The LORD is my shepherd,
         I shall not want.
    2He makes me lie down in green pastures;
         He leads me beside quiet waters.
    3He restores my soul;
         He guides me in the paths of righteousness
         For His name’s sake.
    4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
         I fear no evil, for You are with me;
         Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
    5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
         You have anointed my head with oil;
         My cup overflows.
    6Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23

God is Jehovah Rohi “The Lord, my Shepherd”.   God is our shepherd.  David was a shepherd and wrote Psalm 23 describing God as his shepherd.  We can take great comfort in knowing that God shepherds us.  We are referred to as sheep by Jesus in the New Testament.  Jesus says that His sheep know His voice.  Jesus lays down His life for His sheep.  If one sheep goes astray Jesus will leave the other sheep to find the one lost sheep.  Sheep are lost without their shepherd.  Sheep need their shepherd for everything.  The shepherd guides the sheep, protects the sheep, feeds the sheep and will even die for the sheep.

Jehovah Rophe

“Return, O faithless sons, I will heal your faithlessness.”
“Behold, we come to You; For You are the LORD our God.” Jeremiah 3:22

 ‘For I will restore you to health and I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the LORD, ‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying: “It is Zion; no one cares for her.”‘ Jeremiah 30:17

God is Jehovah Rophe “The Lord who heals.”  God is our healer.  He heals us physically, emotionally, spiritually, in all areas of our lives.  There is nothing the Lord can’t heal us from.  Are you sick in your body?  Then call on Jehovah Rophe.   God desires that we walk in healing and wholeness.  Sickness is not the will of God for our lives.

When Jesus came to earth the bible says that He healed the people of all their diseases.  People would bring the sick and Jesus would heal them.  Jesus not only healed the physical ailments but He also healed us spiritually.  Jesus died for us so we have been healed from sin and death.  Healing belongs to us because God is Jehovah Rophe.

Jehovah-Jireh

Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14

One of the Hebrew names of God is Jehovah-Jireh which means “The Lord will provide.”  The Lord will provide all of our needs.  We do not have to worry about what we will eat, where we will live, what we will wear because God is Jehovah-Jireh.

We should not rely on other things or people to supply our needs.  God has promised to provide for each one of us.  Whatever the situation and whatever our need we know that God provides in that moment and in that season.

What is your need?  Ask God because He is Jehovah-Jireh.
